More Watercolors

I tried to force myself looser by only using a big mop for these little sketches. Not sure it worked as well as I wanted. I’m still controlling it too much and trying to make a picture.

The first painting made me think of Burt Silverman’s book “Breaking The Rules of Watercolor.” This treatment/method/look is similar to many of the examples in the book. Mops are some of the brushes he uses. Enjoy seeing your journey with watercolor.

    • Thanks William. He’s one of my favorite watercolor painters. I have the book and I’m trying to follow along but I’m too much in awe. I don’t know how he manages to lift paint off and get it nearly back to white on uncoated bristol. I bought some of the paper he suggests but I can’t lift on it at all.

    Hi Hank,

I popped in to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It’s fun seeing your watercolor experiments!
