Hiding In The Car

It was raining and windy this morning so I painted this on my lap in my car. This is a spot I paint very often, but this time I deliberately pushed back the landmass to increase the space. I was also hoping that by making it smaller I’d be less inclined to over-work it. I just wanted it to be a suggestion like the waves. I feel like that makes it more about the ocean.

Again, this is gouache but I’m using it more like watercolor. I want to try a painting using it like it’s supposed to be used, but I may need to do that in the studio (if I can ever find time).
